For years I hung out with lots of people who were covered in Tattoos. Most of them were in bands and it was a huge part of the scene to have ink all over your body. I met dudes that had tattoos on their hands, heads, and some even in their mouths. I was too scared to get something that I would later grow to hate so I waited. I had seen about 20 tattoos get done before I, myself, sat down in that chair.
After Eric died I wanted to get something that I would see every day and know it was for him. I thought hard about it and I ended up with a broken infinity symbol with his initials underneath on my wrist. I got this because I thought that we would be close forever but flesh won out and he was taken away so I thought a broken symbol made more sense to me but if others see it they just think its whole and I'm OK with that.
It didn't hurt as much as people made it out to but it also didn't feel like it was licked on by kittens. I am very proud of it and I don't really care that it is hard to hide. I know that I am part of a generation that is more understanding of wearing our hopes and dreams literally on our skin.
Since then I have stayed out of the chair and managed to not get hooked on the first one. I have however been thinking and planning my next one. I have always been into Japanese style wood block paintings and I would love to have a Mt. Fuji half sleeve on my right arm. I want the mountain in red and white and have a bunch of black swirl clouds. I know it's going to cost a lot of money but I want it so bad. I guess I should just try and save up for it but I also need to find the right artist. If anyone knows of anyone who would do this type of tattoo well let me know.
So last year and Emerald City Comic Con they had a tattoo booth set up and they were churning out comic inspired tattoo's all day at a pretty cheap price. At the time I didn't want to have to sleep in a hotel room and nurse a new tattoo but I really wanted it. This year I think I am going to go in prepared and try and think of the best Batman inspired design that I can come up with. I really want the picture of the joker below on left shoulder but man that would be a lot of work for a con tattoo... Well let me know what you think!
